Bill
I met Bill in the last years of his life. I got to know his spirit and character and that of his family, for which I am deeply honored. God bless him and them.:
*************************************************
William Charles Storch, 64, left this world July 3, 2000 after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Dad was born November 13, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The son of Frederick Thomas Storch II and Helen Harvey Storch, Bill was the third son in his family. Later, his sister Mary Linda was born. Dad loved her dearly and doted on her throughout his life.

Dad was raised in a Catholic family and attended Catholic schools until age 17, at which time he followed the example of his two older brothers and joined the U.S. Navy. Dad served four years in the Navy where he utilized his artistic talents painting Navy aircraft and serving as a Navy photographer. In the Navy, Dad met his first wife, Lois Schrick. They married in 1954 and had a family of nine children (including one stillborn daughter, Laura). They later divorced.

On Jan. 15, 1970, Bill married his sweetheart, Susan Jane Wignall. Together they added two more daughters to our family.

Dad began working for Air Filter Sales and Service in 1956 as a service technician. He worked his way up the company ladder, becoming vice-president and finally purchasing the company in 1987 to become president and CEO of the corporation. He continued working until the effects of his disease forced him to retire in 1990.

Dad was a remarkable person with a love and zest for life. He loved to work and play hard. He always enjoyed working in his gardens and making a beautiful home for his children and grandchildren. He was a true craftsman, talented with tools and woodworking. He could build, create and repair almost anything. He was an amazing man who was able to live the life of ten men and somehow fit everything in. We are continually amazed at the things he was able to accomplish while always putting his family's needs first.

Dad loved vehicles of any kind. He could name the year and make of almost any car from the time he was a little boy. He especially loved his Cadillacs, Ford Broncos and Gold Wing motorcycles. He spent countless hours painting, repairing and rebuilding his vehicles as well as those of friends and family members. Our family has wonderful memories of 4-wheeling in Moab every Easter for the Moab Jeep Safari, cross-country motorcycle trips on the Gold Wing and camping trips at Moon Lake. Dad was a sportsman who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping and swimming. Mostly though, Dad loved spending time with his ten children and his grandchildren. One of Dad's most remarkable talents was that of relating to children. He made them feel special and important by taking the time to really listen to them and understand their feelings. Everyone who was lucky enough to know Dad, knew how much he loved them.

Dad was a generous, selfless man. He was a true and devoted friend. He was the life of any party and his smile lit up every room. Words cannot describe the emptiness we feel without him here. We look forward to his hugs and laughter when we join him again.

We love you and miss you our Daddy-Bill, Husband, Grandpa, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Though we will try to follow your legacy, we know that there will never be another one like you.

Dad is preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Frederick Thomas Storch III; his infant daughter, Laura Storch and his brother, Philip Richard Storch.

Dad is survived by his wife; his children: Tonia Sunseri (Gary), Lindah Leonard (Mike) both of CA; Theresa Goodell (Steve) of W. VA; LaVerne Davis (Ricky) of Maryland; Vivienne Davies (Dan), Veronica Storch, William C. Storch, Jr. (Tara), Anita Maw (Dennis) and Annie Hill (Jeff), all of Salt Lake City; 29 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Kress; brother, Ronald Storch (Ruthie); cousin, Bobby Stolte, all of Florida; and aunt, Laura Simmons of Pittsburgh.

Funeral services will be held Sat., July 8, 2000 at 12 noon at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call Fri. 6-8 p.m. and Sat. from 10:30-11:45 a.m., prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank the many friends, volunteers, nurses and hospice employees who cared for Dad during the last stages of his disease. We are especially grateful to Mary Kay and Pat who loved Dad like a member of their own family. We would also like to express our gratitude to those friends and neighbors who helped and supported our Mom when Dad no longer could.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1414 E. 4500 S. Suite 2, SLC, UT 84117.
