A son of John and Fredericka Faul Merz.
He was a cheese maker by trade, but for the past 13 years had been employed at the Bald Mountain house, Third Lake, during the summer months. There he was in charge of the laundry. He had been a resident of Lowville for the past 20 years. The deceased was never married and is survived by one brother, Albert, with whom he had always made his home, and the following sisters: Mrs. Minnie Searl, Mrs. Anna Petrie, Lowville; Mrs. John Dewey, Turin.
