ALICE, Texas – Norma Schuette, 87, passed away January 5, 2010 in a Corpus Christi hospital. She was born September 7, 1922 in Cost, Texas, to Adolph and Emma Albrecht. The family moved to the Dilworth Community in 1926. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, a member of the Luther League in her youth, a Sunday School teacher, also a former member of the Altar Guild, and a member of the Women of the Church. She also was a member of the Square Dance Club in the 50s and early 60s. She was employed by the City of Alice for more than 18 years, and served as City Clerk from 1975 to 1978. The present city hall was purchased during her term in office. She retired in 1982. She was a member of the Alice Garden Club, a member of the 42 Club and a lover of nature and wildlife. Her hobbies included handwork and China painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Adolph; her husband, M. O. “MO” Schuette in 1998; her sister, Bernelle Louge in 1998; and her son, Mark Schuette in 2009.

Survivors include two sons, Jerald (Cari) Schuette of Round Rock, Texas, and Noel Schuette of Alice, Texas; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice. Burial will follow in Alice Cemetery.
