He graduated from Lawrenceville High school in 1949. He was proud to have served his country in the US Naval Reserve as a Seabee 1949-1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Marlys Wolf in 1953
He was an extra proud great grandfather to Oliver Troxell. He chased and achieved his dream of being a farmer and in 1954 founded Circle Soil Service, a farm supply business. Cy and Marlys operated this business until 1982. He mentored many farmers and made many lifelong friends along that journey. While operating the business, he started farming in Champaign and Clark Counties. He was a conservationist at heart, had a love of the land and served on many agricultural boards. He was honored to be named Champaign County Farmer of the Year in 1990. He was a 60 year member of the Donnels Creek Church of the Brethren where he served on many committees. He volunteered at Mercy Hospital for many years. In addition to his family, he was very passionate about antique tractors, parades, traveling and wood working; having built over 50 custom small scale box bed wagons.
