Age 84, son of the late Frank and Gertrude Nichols Snyder. He graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in the class of 1939. Fred received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh. He taught public education for 39 years in Conneaut, Ohio, Wesleyville, and Millcreek School District, where he retired from in 1982. He was an avid traveler, bridge player and enjoyed community theater and cooking. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Kingston Snyder, who died February 21, 2003; and by his two sisters, Catherine Nason and Mildred Riley.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Snyder (Robin), of Lake City, and Thomas Snyder of Erie; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
