WAUKEE - A funeral for Joe Neubauer, 72, of Waukee was held Dec. 21, 1984 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Mr. Neubauer died of a heart attack at his home on Dec. 18.

Burial was in the Waukee Cemetery.

Mr. Neubauer was born April 5, 1912 in Dueschovitz, Germany, and was the son of Ernest and Agusta Neubauer. He moved from Muscatine to Waukee 37 years ago. He married Viola Steffen on Jan. 11, 1949.

Mr. Neubauer was a retired construction project manager for Weitz Co. Inc. A former Waukee mayor, city council member and school board member, Mr. Neubauer was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Booneville American Legion and Carpenters' Local 106 of Des Moines. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Viola; one son, Joseph of Waukee; a brother, Paul of Monroe, Wis.; a sister, Betty Emmerling of Long Beach, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
