Funeral for Ben Sautter Held Yesterday

The funeral for Ben Sautter was held yesterday, Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the United Methodist Church here. Rev. Mary Tappe, pastor of the local church was assisted by Rev. Harvey Anderson, former pastor, at the service. Burial was in the Greenwood Union Cemetery.

Pallbearers were all grandsons of the deceased, Bradley Krenik of Memphis, Tenn., Douglas and Randy Krenik, both of Cleveland, Rob Sautter of Richland Wash., Jim Sautter of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Daniel, Tom and Todd Westphal, all of Waseca.

Mr. Sautter died Saturday, July 31, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. He had been ill for the past three months and had reached his 85 birthday last week.

He was born July 26, 1897 in Lexington Township to Jacob and Mary Sautter. He had attended District 11 rural school and had been employed at Spors Co. in Le Center. On October 30, 1916, he married Amelia Ehmke in Le Center. She preceded him in death. The couple had lived in the Le Center area. Ben was a member of the United Methodist Church of Le Center and had taught Sunday School for many years.

He was a devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed by two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Crystal) Krenik of Cleveland, and Mrs. Norbert (Iris) Westphal of Waseca; one son, Dr. Robert Sautter of Mount Vernon, Iowa; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and one brother, Peter Sautter of this community. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
