The daughter of the late Walter and Gladys (Pohlmann) Westphal was born October 27, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Robert Kretz, February 2, 1963. He passed away January 19, 2005. Maxine had been employed by the Saginaw Housing Commission and later by General Motors, retiring with 10 years of service. She enjoyed playing euchre, reading, gardening and genealogy but most of all, enjoyed her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Mike Kemerer and his wife, Vera; Duane Kemerer and his friend, Patti Witzke; David Kemerer; a step-daughter, Diane Keenan; four grandchildren, Josh Kemerer and his fiancé, Lauren; Justin Kemerer and his wife, Sarah; Matthew Kemerer and his fiancé , Erica Chapman; Lisa Kemerer; four great grandchildren, Wesley and Ian Kemerer; Johnnie Kemerer-Olvera; Evan Redburn; two brothers and their wives, Bruce and Wilma Westphal; Jim and Carol Westphal; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barbara Kretz; Doris Guettler, Jim and Janet Kretz; Russ and Kay Kretz; Carol and Joe LeClair; Harold and Dorothy Kretz; her former husband, Duane Kemerer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. A brother, Walt Westphal, has predeceased her.
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Friends may call at the chapel from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
