Mr. Mielich was a native of San Francisco and had lived in Modesto since 2005. He previously lived in Santa Clara 35 years.
He was an industrial engineer for Masters Institute for 25 years.
He enjoyed the San Francisco '49ers.
He served in the Army from 1952-61.
He is survived by his wife, Lorie Garcia of Modesto; children, Dell Peter Garcia of Tacoma, Wash., Merry L. F. Garcia of Modesto, Steven Mie-lich and Christian Mielich, both of San Jose, Michael Mielich of Fremont and Katherine Mielich of Citrus Heights; stepmother, Merle Dunn of Portland, Ore.; brother, Richard Dunn of Florida; sister, Kim Dunn of Portland; and six grandchildren.
