Jeanne Evelyn Bippus
Jeanne Evelyn (Gardner) Bippus passed away on February 7, 2015, in Little Elm, TX, where she had been staying with her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Charla Bippus. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Hank" Bippus of Newburgh, IN; parents, John and Laura Gardner of Newburgh, IN; her brother, Milton "Red" Gardner of Panama City, FL; and her daughter, Laurie (Bippus) Shotnik of Birmingham, AL. In addition to her son, Mark Bippus, Jeanne was survived by four grandchildren, Joshua Bippus of Little Elm, TX, SSgt. Katherine (Bippus) Kearnely of Eielson Air Force Base, AK; Parker Shotnik of Birmingham, AL; Grant Shotnik of Birmingham, AL.

Jeanne grew up in Newburgh, IN, where she graduated from Newburgh High School. She married Henry Bippus, who was an Ensign with the U.S. Navy. Hank served with esteem as a rescue pilot during the Korean War. At the end of the Korean War, he continued to fly as a helicopter pilot and later as an instructor. Jeanne traveled with Hank, who made the Navy his career, living in Coronado, CA; Toms River, NK; Naples, Italy; Fort McClellan, AL; Whiting Field, FL; and the Pensacola NAS. While Hank worked his was up the ranks, Jeanne dedicated herself to her career as a military wife, and did so with style and grace. She was a strong, self-sufficient woman, carrying on her family obligations while Hank served at Tan Son Khut Air Force Base in Viet Nam, and on board the U.S. Saratoga. During his absences, Jeanne raised their two children and maintained their home in the tradition of a true military wife.

While Jeanne took her role as a military wife seriously, she was first and foremost a dedicated parent, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to all who had the good fortune to cross her path. Her strength took root as a young girl growing up on a farm during the Depression years, and grew with the need to make serious decisions while her husband was away serving his country. Jeanne's sense of humor made spending time with her a pleasure, and her dedication to family made going to her with problems easy. She was never one to say no to a plea for help. Jeanne was beloved by her family and friends, and her smile will be sorely missed. Heaven has been graced with another angel, and Jeanne will be met at its gates by many loved ones who are anxious to see her again.

A graveside memorial will take place on March 13, 2015 at 1:15pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola NAS.
