Marion Lewis Hotze was born in Pottawattamie County, Iowa to Lewis H. and Edna M. Hotze.
In 1935 and 1940, the family was farming near Carson, in Pottawattamie County. There may have been other siblings, but in 1940, his father was 54, his mother was 58, and Marion, 13, was still at home.
Marion joined the US Army, and served during World War II from Oct. 25, 1945 to April 13, 1947.
After he returned, he married Thurleen Louise Schnepel on Nov. 18, 1950, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor, Iowa. They remained active in that church.
Their marriage was blessed with three children: Ward Stephen, Sarah Ann, and Brenda Joy.
Marion and Thurleen lived on the family farm until they moved to Treynor in 1975 to begin retirement in their new dream home.
Marion Lewis Hotze entered eternal life on February 19, 2002, in Treynor, Iowa.
