Karl H. Segelken, 72, of Summerville, husband of Dr. Kaye Crews Segelken, died Monday, March 9, 2015, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Segelken was born March 13, 1942 in Germany, a son of the late Karl and Meta Segelken.

He was a nephew of the late John Diedrich Ernest Meyer and Anna Segelken Meyer and nephew and surrogate son of the late George Selgelken and Evelyn Caughman Segelken.

He came to Summerville in August 1959 to assist George and Evelyn Segelken in the operation of the Summerville Floral Nursery. He was a 1967 graduate of Clemson University and operated the Summerville Floral Nursery until his retirement in 2004. In retirement, he enjoyed time with his grandchildren and travel in his RV. His death is considered the last item on his "to do list."

He was survived by his wife, Dr. Kaye C. Segelken; a son by his first wife, Glenn (Hali) Segelken of Summerville; four grandchildren, Hattie and Jackson Segelken of Summerville and Kaitlyn and Noah Ledford of Belmont, NC; two brothers, Erich Segelken and Wilhelm Segelken, both of Germany; a stepdaughter, Carrie Ray (Adam) Ledford of Belmont, NC; a nephew and three nieces, all of Germany.

Friends and family gathered from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Service and burial in Bethany Cemetery were private.
