John Jacob Knapp was born in Burback, Furastenthum Birkenfeld, German, on June 2, 1800.
Maria Carolina Heidrick was born at the same place, on Sept 4, 1800.
I have no record of when they were married.
They had four sons, John Charles, John Jacob, Phillip Charles and John Phillip who was only one year old when they arrived in Chester in Dec. 1844.
John Charles had been sent over the year before (at 17) with friends so as to avoid military service.
Upon their arrival the family settled on the farm which is still in the possession of his descendants.
Mrs Knapp (Maria Carolina Heidrick) died Sept 3, 1853 ...and was buried in the Knapp burial place on the farm.
Mr Knapp (John Jacob) died on April 4, 1872 at the home of his son, Phillip Charles in Chester and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
John Jacob Knapp was Bürgermeister (Mayor) of Burback for a number of years before coming to USA
