Mrs. Anora Cordes was born in Freeborn county, Geneva Township, Minnesota on March 19, 1895 the daughter of Anton and Sena Nelson. She attended school and grew to womanhood in this area. On July 3, 1923 she was united in marriage to Lewis Cordes, who preceded her in death June 14, 1965.
Mrs. Cordes passed away at the Bethany Home in Alexandria on September 9, 1979 at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Meriam C. Earick; a grandson, Richard Henning of Hampton, Virginia; three brothers: Virgil Nelson of Garfield, Ham and Harry Nelson of Alexandria; one sister, Mrs. Albert Burows of Tacoma, Washington; sister-in-laws: Mrs. Dean Cordes and Miriam Cordes of Alexandria. Mrs. Cordes was a life long resident of this community and will be remembered and missed by all.
Funeral services were September 12, 1979 at the First Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Minnesota with Rev. Philip Westby officiating. Interment in the Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were Otto Stingelhammer, Chris Vokaty, Darrell Neilsen, Darwin Neilsen, Walter Mayer and John Ellis. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
