A graveside service will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home for Joan Vivian Terry, age 69, on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at Shafter Memorial Park. Pastor Vernon Carr of the Shafter Pentecostal Church of God will officiate at the service. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 16th, from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday, March 17th, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Joan was born to Harry and Renetta Peters and was raised in Kern County and graduated from Shafter High School. Joan worked for SVG (Shafter Vegetable Growers) and was the Manager in 1972. She married James Terry in 1988. Joan was a loving, giving person and loved taking care of her grandchildren. She never turned away anyone who was in need, even if she herself was sick. Joan was a member of the Ladies Bible Study of Wasco.

Joan is survived by her husband, James; sons, Rick Johnston of Taft, Scott and wife, Stephanie Johnston of Shafter, Grant and wife, Darla of Vallejo, CA, Guy Terry of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughters, Linda Johnston of Bell, CA and Diana Kinettle of Bakersfield; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
