Mrs. Catherine Wurtz
St. Marys-Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here for Mrs. Catherine McMullen Wurtz, 74, Sun City, Ariz. She died Sunday, Feb. 17, at her home.

She was born March 2, 1910, at St. Marys, the daughter of Frank P. and Lillian Roberts Scheffer. She moved to Kansas City, Mo. from St Marys in 1956, then moved to Sun City, ariz., in 1975.

Mrs. Wurtz was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne's Catholic Church, Rosary Sodality, Rosarian Guild and Ladies Workshop, all at Sun City.

She was married to Dr. James J. McMullen Sept. 10, 1934, at St. Marys. He died April 7, 1974. She was married to Paul Wurtz June 20, 1975, at Kansas City, Mo. He survives. A son, Gregory C. McMullen, died Oct. 24, 1982.

Other survivors include a son James J. McMullen, Bishop, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Elaine Driggs, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Marilyn Brennan, Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Gen Bidberly, Manhattan, and Mrs. Rita Tomson, Indianapolis, Ind; and five grandchildren.

Other survivors include five stepsons, Timothy Wurtz, Topeka, Robert Wurtz, Menomonie, Wis., Phillip Wurtz, Emporia, Richard Wurtz, Phoenix, Ariz., and Stephen Wurtz, Olathe; nine stepdaughters, Mrs. Barbara Dunn, Topeka, Mrs. Betty Lou Schlie, Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Virginia McCarten, Wichita, Mrs. Mary Alice Swengros, Washington, D.C., Vivian Adele Wurtz, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Rosalie Timlin, Windsor, Conn., Mrs. Marcia Larong, Manchester, N.H., Mrs. Diane Haughn, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Teresa Nicholson, Leawood; and 44 step grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. A rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys.
