Brother Oehrle was born June 2, 1934, to Lloyd and Mildred Oehrle. A 1953 graduate of Boys' Central, he was a talented member of the Dramatics Club at Central for four years. After graduation, he entered the Christian Brothers. In addition to Butte Central, where he taught from 1980 to 1981, his teaching assignments included Iona Grammar School in New Rochelle, N.Y., St. Louis High School in Victoria, B.C., Vancouver High School in Vancouver, B.C., Briscoe Memorial School in Kent, Wash., O'Dea High School in Seattle, St. Laurence High School in Chicago, Brother Rice High School in Detroit, Damien Memorial High School in Honolulu, and Palma.
He earned bachelor's degrees in English and history, and three master's degrees in history, administration and counseling from DePaul University, Michigan State University, and the University of Notre Dame. He derived much satisfaction from his service and love in the lives of his students. He also enjoyed reading, was an excellent cook and helped many charitable organizations.
Survivors include his brother, Ed Skubitz of Butte; aunt, Mary Pat Cavanaugh of Anacortes, Wash.; cousins, Ginger Cavanaugh of Newton, Pa., and Tom and Mike Cavanaugh of Houston; and the Christian Brothers, his brothers in faith.
