Werner was born June 5, 1928, in Hubbard, a son of Bruno E. and Elizabeth M. Scholz Verch.
He was a 1946 graduate of Hubbard High School, attended Youngstown College and was a draftsman for many years at Commercial Intertech, the current Parker Hannifin, retiring in 1991.
Werner was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and recently attended St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard.
He was a past member of the Hubbard Planning and Zoning Board and a member of NRA.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Werner was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scoutmaster and on the Board of the Mahoning Valley Council for many years.
He enjoyed building model airplanes and cabinet making.
Werner will be sadly missed by his family; his wife, the former Agnes R. DiRando, whom he married Sept. 23, 1950; his son, David (Kay) Verch of Warren; his daughters, Wendy A. Pedigo of Mauldin, S.C., and Sandra E. (William) Joyce of Boardman; and six grandchildren, Shannon Skaggs, Robin Little, Brian Verch, Greg Verch, Jonathan Joyce, and Jennifer Joyce; and a great-grandchild, Camden Little.
He also leaves his sister Anna, Marie Johnson of Galion.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Charles Pedigo; and his grandson, Matthew Pedigo.
Werner will be laid to rest at the Hubbard Union Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
