Joachim Heinrich Franz Abendroth and Maria Elizabeth Pruss are his parents, he married in May 1864 in Gross Welzin(Woosten),Kris Gadebusch,Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany to Sophie Marie Elizabeth Thiess. They are parents of three children:

Fritz Christian Wilhelm Abendroth-25 May 1864-6 Dec 1864
Johann Heinrich Frederick Abendroth-11 Jul 1866-17 May 1924-Ida Reinke
Ella Anna Emilie Abendroth-23 Oct 1869-18 Sep 1941

Sophia died about 1869 and Johann married Lopuise Knacke on 2 Apr 1870 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

About 1877 he married in Appleton to Helena Streich and they became the parents of five children:
