MORGAN — Monica Marie Ruth Kerkhoff, 87, of Morgan died Friday at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Morgan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a CCW rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan.
She was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Rushville, Neb., to Joseph and Marie (Kerry) Spangler. They lived on farms near Morgan. She attended a public and a parochial school through the eighth grade. She attended two years of high school before leaving to help on the family farm.
She married Harold Kerkhoff on June 7, 1938. They lived on farms near Morgan. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women and the prayer network. She belonged to the Harmony Homemakers, senior citizens, card clubs and birthday clubs. She served as a Title I teacher, volunteered at Gil-Mor Manor for Bingo and helped with St. Nick bags.
She is survived by her children: Don (and Sandy) Kerkhoff of Good Thunder, Dave (and Theresa) Kerkhoff of Redwood Falls, Marilyn (and Jerry) Vogel of Morgan, Larry Kerkhoff of Monterey, Calif., and Mary Kay Kerkhoff of Morgan; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister: Loretta Wildt of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; her son, Lonnie; one brother; and two sisters.
