[About Jacob's parents:] Henry Amend, son of Johannes and Katherine Margaret (Hill) Amend, b. 24 Sept 1866, Walter, Russia; d. 1 May 1948, Lincoln, NE; married ca. 1884–1885, Walter, Russia, [to] Elizabeth Els, daughter of Laurence and Katherine (Hill) Els, b. 16 July 1886, Walter Chutor, Russia; d. 22 Oct 1948, Billings, MT [Elizabeth's obituary says that she died in Lincoln, NE; see below]. They came to the USA on 19 Jan. 1899, to Lincoln, NE.

They were the parents of Jacob Amend, b. 29 Dec 1891, Walter, Russia; d. 30 July 1977, Billings, MT; married Amalia Richter, daughter of John Fredrick and Roeina (Has(s)elbach) Richter, b. 13 Nov. 1893, Schultz, Russia; d. 3 March 1973, Billings, MT. Both are buried in Billings, MT. They were the parents of two daughters, one of whom was Alma Freda (Amend) Glantz.

[About Jacob's wife's parents:] John Fredrick Richter, b. 28 March 1869, Schultz, Russia; d. 7 Nov 1956, St. Clair, MI; married (1) Roeina Has(s)elbach ca. 1890–1891, Schultz(?), Russia, b. ca. 1869, Bohn/Hockerberg, Russia. They were the parents of four children; two survived to adulthood, one of whom was Amalia Amend. John Frederick, his second wife, and three children from his first marriage arrived 10 May 1902 at Montreal, Canada. One daughter died there. The rest of the family came to the USA later that year, maybe to Sheboygan, MI.

From the obituary of Elizabeth (Els) Amend, published in The Lincoln Star (Lincoln, NE), Friday, 22 Oct. 1948, p. 15: Mrs. Elizabeth Amend, 82, 228 F. Street, Lincoln resident for 49 years, died at a local hospital Friday morning. Born in Russia, Mrs. Amend came to Nebraska in 1899. Surviving are one son, Jacob, Billings, MT, and three daughters, Mrs J. J. Bauer, Mrs. Alvin Zichek and Mrs. Philip Frickle, all of Lincoln.
