LaDonna was united in marriage with Dennis Rops on December 21, 1974 at Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg. She worked several years at Maple Manor Village as a CNA. LaDonna retired due to health reasons.
LaDonna was a faithful member of First Reformed Church in Aplington. She loved to canoe, camp and fish. She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden. LaDonna’s dogs and cats brought great joy to her life.
LaDonna died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at her home. She was preceded in death by her son, Allen Sword, Jr. in November 2008; her parents; two sisters-in-law, Verla Rops and Velda Dougan; three brothers-in-law, Arlo Dougan, Eugene Beving and August Ascher, Jr..
LaDonna is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dennis of Aplington; one sister, Elaine (Dean) Wessels of Edgewood, Iowa; two brothers, Wayne (Amy) Nolte of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Harlan (San-D) Nolte of Hamlet, Nebraska; four sisters-in-laws, JoAnn Beving of Ackley, Mary Ascher of Grundy Center, Betty(Don) Harken of Hampton, Frances (Floyd ) Hook of Maryville, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Marvin (Jeanette) Rops of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2015, at First Reformed Church in Aplington, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
