Charles L.J. Freihofer, 71, of Edgewood, died Tuesday, May 20 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center following a long illness.

Charles served our country as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1964, attaining the rank of captain. He graduated from Loyola University Law School in New Orleans, Louisanna. He practiced law in Covington and Fort Mitchell, Kentucky from 1967 to 2006, specializing in bankruptcy. He was also an evangelist for the Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carol P. Maggio Freihofer; daughter, Jennifer (Keith) Steer of Louisville; sons, Father Michael Freifhofer of Granby, Colorado and Conrad (Marti) Freihofer of Florence; brothers, Fred Freihofer of Lakeside Park, Alex Freihofer of Ft. Mitchell, Rex Freihofer of Lakeside Park, and Victor Freihofer of Walton; sister, Charlotte Ott of Crescent Springs; grandsons, Evan and Sean Steer; and granddaughter, Alyssa Freihofer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Elizabeth Kamphaus Freihofer.
