He was born in Columbus County on November 8, 1943, the son of the late Melvin Roscoe Russ and Evelyn Simmons Russ.
Mr. "CC" was a member of Camp Branch Missionary Baptist Church also served as a Deacon. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was affiliated with International Paper Company for many years.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him and loved him.
Surviving are his loving family, Connie Little Russ of 46 years of the home; his children, Renee Phillips and husband, Brent, of Ash, Melissa McClary of Reidsville, GA, Christopher Russ, Jr. and Melvin Russ and Fiancée' Stacey Zver also of Ash; a brother, Steve Russ of Ash; sisters, Madie Core of Rolesville, NC and Faye Jones of Ash; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many friends too numerous to mention.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday April 18, 2015 at Camp Branch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Leroy Long ,Pastor Clayton Rivenbark and Pastor Jack Martin officiating.
