John M. Miholic Funeral services for John M. Miholic, 79, of Waukegan, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Dismas Church, 2600, Sunset Ave., Waukegan. Born April 9, 1924, in North Chicago, he died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at Victory Memorial Hospital. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. John was a member of St. Dismas Church in Waukegan. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Air Force on active duty and also with the reserves, retiring as a major. John was also a policeman with the Illinois State Police for more than 20 years. He was a member of the St. Dismas Men's Club, the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police Troopers Lodge #41, former 8th ward alderman for the City of Waukegan, member of the KSKS St. Joseph Lodge #53, former member of the Waukegan American Legion Homer Dahringer Post 281, the Elks Lodge and a member of the Waukegan American-Croatian Cultural Center. John's hobbies included playing golf, where he was currently a "starter" at Orchard Hills Golf Course in Waukegan, and he also enjoyed playing cribbage. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane; his children, Jean (Don) Bishop of Manchaca, Texas, James Miholic of Waukegan and Janet Miholic of Mundelein; his grandchildren, John Fleming, Don R. Bishop, Brittany Bishop, Cody Bishop and Robyn Paulson; his great-grandson, Dylan Bishop; his brother, Matthew (Dorothy) Miholic of Lake Bluff, Ill.; his sisters, Marianne Schuessler, Barbara Jurcin and Therese Loquidis; his brothers-in-law, Earl Laube and Ray Dorman; his sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Jeanette Miholic; and by his many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Miholic and Agatha Miholic (nee Penich); his brothers, Joseph, Stanley and Michael Miholic; and by his sisters, Vinca Pucin, Joan Rehbein, Caroline Truby, Angela Laube and Anne Dorman. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at March Funeral Home, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Dismas Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
