NORTON, Kan. — Betty Y. Riepe, 80, of Norton died Monday, April 13, 2015, at Andbe Home in Norton.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Neb., with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Burial will be at Arapahoe Cemetery. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe is in charge of arrangements.
She was born to Fred and Louise (Koeteman) Huxoll on Nov. 17, 1934, in Arapahoe.
She was received into God’s kingdom through holy baptism on Dec. 9, 1934, by the Rev. Julius Schabacher at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and was confirmed in her baptismal vow by the Rev. Walter E. Buss at the same church on May 25, 1947.
On June 14, 1953, she married George Edward Riepe of Arapahoe. God blessed this union with four children: Jeffrey Scott, Phyllis Ilene, William Dean and David Allan.
In late February 1956, George and Betty moved to Flagstaff, Ariz., where they continued to live, work and raise their family. Betty enjoyed a 30-year career with the U.S. Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station and several years thereafter of retirement life with family, friends and church activities. In 2013, she relocated to Norton.
She is survived by her children, Jeff, married to Kim Hunter of Gold Beach, Ore., and Phyllis, married to Herman Braun of Norton; grandchildren, Lance, Crystal, Ashlea, Aronn, Abbie, Chase and Cody; great-grandchildren, Trae, Cinch, Dali, Ty, Kaleb, Houston and Savanna; brothers, Charles, Norman and James Huxoll; and sisters, Marjorie tenBensel, Violet Hilker, Twyla Golter and Isabelle Pfeiffer. Numerous nieces, nephews, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, other relatives and friends survive as well.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, George; sons, Billy and David; granddaughter, April Dawn Braun; her parents; brothers, Laurel, Wayne and Martin; and sister, June Tracy.
