Roland W. Meyer, age 84. of 1323 S. 14th St., Manitowoc. died Monday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2004, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
He was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Two Rivers, son of the late Edward and Martha Shovers Meyer. Roland attended St. Mark Parochial School and Two Rivers Washington High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. On June 18, 1943, he married the former Katherine Stephani in Galena, In. Roland was employed with Rahr Malting Co. and Anheuser Busch for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing on Lake Winnebago.
Survivors include his wife: Katherine Meyer, Manitowoc; a daughter: Maxine Tompkins, Manitowoc; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Daniel and Linda Meyer, Milwaukee; Jon Meyer and his fiancee, Rocio Diaz-Duran, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Melinda and Daniel Meyer, Jon Anthony Meyer, Jennifer Krueger, Audra, Lee and Brandon Tompkins; four great-grandchildren: Roland and Chesslica Jean Tompkins, Jazlynn and Jaclynn Krueger, a sister: Marilyn Hampel, Two Rivers: and a brother: Edward Meyer, Sturgeon Bay. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Ursula and Alvin Sladky; a brother and sister-in-law: Harold and Gertrude Meyer; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: June and Edwin Bonk.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at 2 p.m. at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. The Rev. William O'Brien officiated at the service with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
