Anna was the 7th child of Heinrich Gottlieb Heidenreich and Anne Marie Charlotte Kottkamp[s].

On June 11, 1847, she arrived at the port of Baltimore aboard the Brig George Delius with her parents, her brother Caspar (b. 1820), and her sister Anne Marie Luise Charlotte (b. 1828).

On November 16, 1849, her brother Christian Friederich Heidenreich (b. 1825) arrived aboard the SS Rebecca at the port of New Orleans, after he obtained his release from the Germany Army.

According to the Rieso family history, the Heidenreich family stayed at a hotel in St. Louis for a month because the mother was ill. While there, Anna met the hotel's bookkeeper, Gottlieb Friederich Rieso (b. 1826). After the family left the hotel, Gottlieb quit his job, hired himself out as a farm laborer and worked from farm-to-farm in St. Clair County until he found Anna.

They were married in 1851 and had 10 children:

Louisa (1852-1943) (m. Peter Brandberger)
Heinrich Gottlieb, Jr. (1853-1880) (never married)
Heinrich George C. "Henry" (1855-1932) (m. Emma Anna Bechtold)
Maria Catherine (1857-1858)
Edward (1858-1945) (m. Katherine Riedesel)
Emma Marie (1861-1923) (m. John Georg)
Marie Helene (1863-1865)
Anna Louise (1865-1892) (m. Henry Schaeffer)
August Emilie (1867-1943) (m. Karl William Charles Probst)
Karolina Marie (1872-1897) (died due to complications of an appendectomy)
