NEW ULM - Eleanor M. Ubel, 98, of New Ulm, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26 at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Eleanor is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Dorothyann Ubel of Baxter and Jerry and Marilyn Ubel of Hill City; a son-in-law, Jack Bloedel of New Ulm; granddaughters, Jacquelyn Weise and her husband, Walter Jr. of Brandon, Susan Pagel and her husband, Robert, of Moline, Illinois, Lynn Gudgeon and her husband, David, Sandra Gudgeon, Nancy Abel, and Kris Bloedel all of New Ulm, Pam Kjelshus and her husband, Brian of Hanska, Robin Kiel and her husband, David, of Winthrop, Nicole Horrigan and her husband, Keith, of St. Paul; by grandsons, David Ubel and his wife, Lori, of Oakdale, and Andrew Ubel and his wife, Angie, of Long Grove, Iowa; and by many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, a sister, and by daughters, Marilyn and Marlys.

Eleanor M. Laway, the daughter of Frank and Louise Laway was born on July 9, 1911 in New Ulm. She graduated form St. Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm in the class of 1924. On Oct. 8, 1929 Eleanor was united in marriage to John A. Ubel. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. She remained living in New Ulm up until her death. She was an active member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm and a member of the Ladies Aid at church. She also had been a member of the Brown County Historical Society.

The family prefers memorials to the Oak Hills Living Center Memorial Foundation.
