Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Tim Ehling will officiate and interment will be at Watson Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Myrtle Irene Sherod was born on May 15, 1917 in Rosebud, Montana to Willie and Helga (Christianson) Anderson. She was baptized in Stanley, North Dakota and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Myrtle graduated from Montevideo High School in 1936. Following graduation, she worked in Minneapolis until her marriage to Clarence Sherod on February 1, 1941. Clarence and Myrtle lived in St. Paul for four years before moving to a farm in the Ortonville area. After moving to Montevideo, she worked at the Coast to Coast store until she and Clarence bought the Downtown Café. After they sold the café, she continued to work at various jobs including managing the Ortonville Golf Club for one summer. She also worked at Andresen Studios in Granite Falls, MN, the Chippewa County Courthouse Cafeteria and finally hostessing at Valentino’s Restaurant until retiring at age 83.

Myrtle enjoyed several hobbies including square dancing, bowling, antiquing, and doll collecting. She was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed embroidery work, cooking and baking. Myrtle loved to entertain and her home was the gathering place for many holidays and parties over the years. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent at Eidskog Church for several years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Montevideo

She is survived by her five children: Lorelei Andresen (special friend David Beito), Ronald (Diane) Sherod, Eloise (Gabriel)Valentino, O’Neil (Karen) Sherod of all Montevideo, and Jeff (Barb) Sherod of Winona; seven grandchildren: Kim (Rick) Klocek, Kyle (Myah) Sherod, Angela Curtiss (special friend Aaron Harrell), Jackelyn Sachs (special friend Neal Freeman), Carly Sherod, and Collin Sherod; granddaughter-in-law, Tracy Sherod; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Emery; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; sisters: Wilma Christianson and Margaret Sebier; brother, Russell Anderson; grandson, Kevin Sherod; granddaughter, Jennifer Sherod; and son-in-law, Clifford Andresen.
