An Oberfeldwebel and Flugzeugführer [pilot] with 4 Staffel Jagdgeschwader 2, his aircraft (Bf109E-4; wn:2765) was shot down by fighters and crashed at Walderslade, Chatham, Kent. Although he managed to bale out his parachute failed to open and he was killed.

Originally buried in Section 8 Grave 24 at Chatham Palmerston Road Cemetery, Kent.
