From the April 16, 1925 issue of the Illinoian Star newspaper, Beardstown, Illinois: Mrs. Edward H. Stuke passed away last night at her home, 1407 Jefferson street after a short illness. She first became ill with influenza which later developed into pneumonia and affected her heart. Because of her strong constitution she had been able to pass the crisis in both these diseases but complications set in which she was unable to overcome. She received the best treatment possible, two trained nurses being on duty all the time. A conference of doctors was held Tuesday night. Mrs. Stuke was unable to receive any rest from her suffering and she gradually grew weaker until last night when she passed away peacefully at 5:30 o'clock. All the members of her family were at the bedside when the end came. Besides her husband, Edward H. Stuke she is survived by three daughters the Misses Margaret Marie, Mildred Robertine and Mary Eva Janice, her mother Mrs. Caroline Herzberger, a sister, Mrs. Tillie Huppa, a brother, Lewis Herzberger and many friends and relatives. Two brothers, John W. Herzberger and Clarence E. Herzberger preceded her in death. Mrs. Eva Stuke was born November 7, 1874, near Grigg Chapel. She lived in Sangamon Valley all her life until about five years ago when they moved to their present residence at 1407 Jefferson street. She was married to Edward Stuke, March 28, 1895 and to this union were born three daughters, Margaret, Mildred and Janice. She was a sincere and faithful member of Griggs Chapel and when she moved to this city she took an active part in the work of the First Methodist church. Among her many activities is numbered her work as assistant superintendent in the Cradle Roll department of the Sunday school, where she gave such unceasing services that she became endeared to everyone. Her sweet and sincere personality will always be remembered by her many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the First Methodist church. The Rev. C. S. Boyd will officiate at the services and interment will be in the Oetgen cemetery.
