Longtime Sharon Springs, Kansas resident Phyllis Van Allen, 96, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
She was born October 22, 1918, near Stockton, Kansas, the daughter of Edna Louise (Butler) and Leslie N. Lindahl. She graduated from high school in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
On January 2, 1937, she and Cecil Merle Van Allen were married in Phillipsburg, and they lived on a farm near Phillipsburg until they purchased the John Deere Implement Company in Sharon Springs in 1947, naming it Van Allen Implement Company. Phyllis was a homemaker, taking care of her children, her home, and yard. She was an excellent seamstress and made most of the clothing for her children when they were growing up. Her memberships included United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star Goodland Chapter 122.
Preceding her in death were her husband Cecil Van Allen, who died in 1980; her parents; sister Maxine Van Allen; grandchildren Lynette Kay Van Allen, Brian Keith Van Allen; and daughter-in-law Janet (Cowles) Van Allen.

The funeral will be Tuesday, May 26, at 10:30 AM MT, at the United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs, with Pastor Keith Anglemyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.
