Gene Roderick Haskin was
born February 4, 1929, in
Estherville, the son of Walter
and Faye (Goodwin) Haskin.
He attended school in Gruver,
Ackley, and Whitten, graduating
from Whitten High School
in 1946. On August 5, 1951
Gene married Shirley Jean Lord
in Whitten. Gene farmed until
his health prevented i t In 1967
he went to work in the office
equipment business. He retired
after 20 years of employment
as service manager at Iowa
Office Supply in Storm Lake.
Gene was an active member
of First United Methodist
Church in Aurelia, Kiwanis and
Knights of Pythias. He enjoyed
fishing, woodworking, painting,
building and flying radio
controlled airplanes, general
repair and lawn work. Gene
and Shirley enjoyed travelling
after his retirement, covering
much of the country, but were
partial to Texas and fishing
there.
Preceding Gene in death
were his parents, his wife
Shirley on January 9,2002, and
two brothers, Morris and Don
Haskin.
Survivors include two
daughters, Denise and her husband
Dale Isackson, and Jill
Haskin; one grandson, Gabriel
Isackson; three granddaughters:
Samantha and her husband
Matthew McMillian and
Hannah Isackson, all of Springfield,
Mo., and Sarah Tietgen of
Cedar Falls: three great-grandchildren:
Cole, Madison and
Simon McMillian; one sisterin-
law, Kaye Haskin of Eldora;
nieces, nephews and other relatives
and friends.
