LITCHFIELD, Conn., July 23
—Mrs. Constance Baillie Rose Ripley, an early leader in the Girl Scouts and a sponsor of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, died at her home here this morning. She was the widow of Louis Arthur Ripley who had been a member of the New York Stock Exchange. Her age was 84.
Mrs. Ripley graduated from the Presbyterian Nursing School in New York City in 1898. In 1902 she was one of the early founders of Girl Scouts of America groups, under Juliette Lowe. Mrs. Ripley founded the first troop here.
She was also one of the first sponsors of the Museum of Modern Art and was a charter member of the Garden Club of America in Connecticut. She maintained homes in New York and Connecticut.
She leaves two sons, Louis R. Ripley of Litchfield and S. Dillon Ripley 2nd of New Haven and Litchfield; two daughters, Mrs. John Forman and Mrs. Thomas D. Williams, both of Litchfield, and ten grandchildren
