Kristiane Bartz

1998-2015

On Saturday May 9, 2015 Kristiane Nicole Bartz spent her last day in the sun with people she loved. At 17, she was graduating with high honors at Archbishop Murphy High School, planning to attend University of British Columbia in the fall. Kristi was an accomplished athlete and had a strong passion for soccer and track and field. She played select soccer for eight years and was one of the AMHS varsity captains her senior year. She shared her love of the sport with victims of human trafficking while in Cambodia in 2013. In track and field, Kristi held three records, the 1600m, 800m and high jump, planning to run in college. Her number 4 soccer jersey and track uniform have been retired at AMHS. The water was where Kristi felt the most at home. The ocean brought her a pure joy that was catching, and the anchor was a symbol very special to her. She was tan all year round from always being outdoors, moving from activity to activity without ever slowing down. Her strong faith was evident in the way that she loved and cared for others. She challenged herself to make a difference in the lives of the people she met, and to continue to grow in her own relationship with God. She lived entirely in the present moment, an adventurous spirit with limitless imagination. Her mannerisms, humor, ideas and philosophies provided endless entertainment for all she knew. She lives on through her parents, Manfred and Karen Bartz; sisters, Stefani and Michaela of Snohomish, Wash.; grandparents, Irma and Woldemar Bartz of Loveland, Colo.; aunts and uncles, Thom and Sandy Bartz, Brent and Jean Murray, Rob and Donna Uhlrich, Joyce Kastner; cousins, extended family, and an incredible community of friends, classmates and teammates. Kristi, we miss you more than words can describe. Shine on little Bee. May you forever explore, dream, discover. The memorial service will be held on May 16, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church in Everett at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception at Archbishop Murphy High School. Kristi was born on May 14, 1997, and her Celebration of Life will be held at AMHS on her 2015 birthday at 7:00 p.m. A Kristi Bartz Memorial Scholarship fund has been established at Archbishop Murphy High School. Donations can be made to AMHS Scholarship Awards at 12911 39th Ave SE Everett WA, 98208, or contact 425-379-6363.

Humble and loving' teen tragically killed after being struck by speeding freight train.

(Promising athlete Kristi Bartz, 17, was on a bridge above a river in Washington State, US, when the train began to approach.

A male friend had already leapt into the river but Kristi and a female companion instead chose to run.)
