Daniel Arno Engel, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 31, at 3:30 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating.
Interment followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Thursday evening, July 30.
Engel was a rancher throughout the years and was born in the Luckenbach community on April 17, 1934, the son of Arno Engel and Helga Peese Engel. He married Verna Mae Weinheimer on May 16, 1959, in St. Mary's Catholic Church and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Engel is survived by three daughters, one son and spouses, including Jannabeth and Lorenz Wendel, Brenda and Ronald Miiller, Kevin and Debbie Engel and Danielle and Michael Granville, all of Fredericksburg, and seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by four sisters-in-law, including Louise Duecker and her husband, Johnny of Austin; Darline, Mrs. Nolan Friedrich of Doss; Evelyn, Mrs. Reuben Weinheimer, and Mary, Mrs. Minor Taylor, both of Fredericksburg, and Sylvia Weinheimer of Euless.
His parents preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Kenneth Miiller, Karl Friederich, Mackey Bolinger, Tyler Friederich, Misti Miiller and Loren Wendel.
Honorary pallbearers were Morgyn and Jace Granville, Tyler Friederich and Kim Tran.
