STAUGLER, Harold H. Age 85 of Centerville, died at Hospice of Dayton on October 22, 2014. He was born and raised in Cathegena, OH on February 16, 1929. The youngest of his family of 9 children. He moved to Dayton at the age of 17 where he worked at NCR. He proudly served in the Korean War and was injured by shrapnel from a bomb that lodged in his shoulder. For his action he was awarded the Purple Heart. In 1958 he married Celeste Heitkamp. They were blessed with 3 daughters; Tama, Lisa and Lora. Retired from Chrysler after 30 years and then moved to Englewood. In retirement years he pursued his true passion of wood carving. He was well known in the Englewood and surrounding communities for his primitive hand carved Santas. His carvings were acknowledged by awards and with articles in local newspapers. He also taught many friends how to "Imitate" his carvings. Weekly carving sessions were enjoyed in his home. He and Celeste also had a passion for antiques and collectables. He was a devoted husband, beloved father member VFW, Englewood Sister City and NAIM. Preceded in death by his wife Celeste and daughter Tama. Survived by daughter Lisa Munsch (John) and Lora Staugler, grandchildren Corey and Casey Munsch, Halie and Ariana Dodds and Tea Roelandt and his sister Irma Allen. After the death of his beloved wife he joined NAIM (Catholic widow/widowers club) where he eventually met his angel, Cathy Tidwell. Together they shared 9 years of true friendship, fun, travel and companionship. When Harold was diagnosed with Cancer in 2013, Cathy stayed by his side and was his "favorite" nurse. One of his last words to her were "live your life and have fun." He will be missed by many as he was wholly integrated into the lives of those who loved him.
