Dr. G. A. Steele, county coroner, said following an investigation that Pfaffenroth had taken his own life. No motive for the act was known.
He was observed by his daughter, Mrs. Harry Kimball, about 2:30 o'clock this morning when he went into the kitchen to get a drink of water. He had retired about 10 o'clock in good health and good spirits.
