He was born Sept. 27, 1905, in Hampshire, the son of Frank and Alice (Kahle) Henning.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active on many boards. He was a member of the McHenry County Farm Bureau and served on local school boards.
Survivors include his children, John F. (Carol) Henning of Huntley, Bernice (Howard) Hoffman of Hampshire and James (Sharon) Henning of Huntley; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances (Raymond) Winkelman of Woodstock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Louise A. (Kahl) Henning; a sister, Ella Tinberg; and five brothers, Arthur, Alfred, Franz, Robert and Ralph Henning.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley. A prayer service for immediate family will be after the visitation. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11108 N. Church St., Huntley. The Rev. Charles Kittel will officiate. Burial will be in Huntley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley would be appreciated.
