George W. MacDonald passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the age of 82. After growing up in Reno, George enlisted and served his country proudly at the end of WWII with the Army Air Corp, then returned to Reno. There he met Helen, his wife of 57 years and together raised a beautiful family. George joined Sierra Pacific Power Co and was employed for 39 years. George had a passion for motorcycles, camping with his family and the San Francisco 49r's. He was a man of his word and a friend a person could count on.

George is survived by his wife Helen: their three children, Kathryn Sewell, Karen Johnson (Bill) and Kevin MacDonald (Beverly); his granddaughter Elizabeth Sewell: sisters Lovell Wiehe, Joann Doyle and Margaret MacDonald, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Warren F. and Elizabeth N. (Barr), twin infant sons Peter and Paul, sisters Roberta McGowan and Elizabeth MacDonald.

The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Louie, Dr. Dennis Brown and the staff at Senior Bridges for their kindness and comfort. A mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 1138 Wright St. Graveside service with military honors will follow the mass at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the of Northern Nevada, 1301 Cordone Ave., Reno, NV 89509. Walton Funeral Home, Reno was entrusted with arrangements.
