Joseph P. Damiani, Sr., age 87, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2015. Joseph was born in Wilmington, DE on November 25, 1927 to the late Andrew and Filomena(Casapulla) Damiani. Joseph retired from Amtrak as a welder after 37 years of service. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, watching professional wrestling and Western movies.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeanne (Baun) Damiani; daughter, Lynn Anderson (Charles White), son, Thomas Ziegert (Frank Barnes); sister, Rose Ann Dailey; grandchildren: Christine Oliphant (Wayne), William Anderson III (Ellen), Nichole Pierce (Adam) and Joseph Damiani III; great grandchildren: Megan and Mindi Oliphant, Billy Anderson and Julia Pierce. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Joseph Damiani Jr.; brothers: Peter, Vincent, and Alfred Damiani.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11AM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 5661 Ocheltree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808..
