Margaret M. Vick was born on April 29, 1917 on a farm near Lake Benton in Pipestone County to Henry and Emillie (Garmatz) Koehne. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Lake Benton. She atended school at Lake Benton Public Schools.

Margaret married Aldie Vick on September 1, 1940, and following their marriage they farmed near Lake Benton. They later farmed near Elkton, South Dakota, then Brandon, South Dakota, prior to moving to the farm near Dawson. In 1975, they retired from farming and moved to Sacred heart.

Margaret worked as a housekeeper in several homes in her younger days. Margaret loved to play piano, which she played by ear, and took her ukelin along when herding the cattle. She also enjoyed doing people’s hair. In her spare time she crocheted, made quilts, and made a lot of hook and braid rugs. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband when it was possible. A big garden was a must with plenty of vegetables and fruits to eat, can, and share with friends.

She is survived by her sisters, Clara Peterson, Leona DeBoer, and Caroline Thomssen, all of Lake Benton, her sister-in-law Eveline Koehne also of Lake Benton, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Aldie in 1995, her two sisters Olga Rouge and Augusta Willer, her two brothers Henry Jr., and Ben Koehne, and five brothers-in-law.

Blessed Be Her Memory....
