ATTAR, David G. Mattar, age 97, of Trumbull, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 in his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Gray Mattar. Born in Bridgeport, Mr. Mattar resided in Trumbull for 44 years. He was a tax agent for the State of Connecticut retiring in 1970. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, a sergeant in the 70th Tank Battalion serving in 7 major campaigns (North Africa, Sicily and 5 European). Survivors include his devoted sisters, Helen and Julie Mattar of Bridgeport; sister-in-law, Eleanor Mattar of Stratford; five nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces and nephews, and 14 great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, his brothers, Gus and William Mattar and sisters Louise Ross and her husband, Melvin, and Alice Mattar all predeceased him. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull with the Reverend Rocco A. Florenza officiating.
