Pearl Doris Ridlon was born on November 30, 1924 to Clifford and Bessie ((Dalen) Ridlon in Little Falls, MN. She attended various schools and graduated from Akeley High School in 1944. She worked in St. Paul for seven years.
She married Karl Semmler on June 20, 1953 in Akeley. She lived on the Iron Range until 1959 when she moved back to Akeley. She worked at the Akeley School as bookkeeper for 18 years until retiring. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Akeley, MN; the American Legion Auxiliary; Women’s Study Club; Garden Club; C.P. Club and Senior Citizen’s Club; where she held most offices in them, mainly as treasure. The last years she spent in Akeley she volunteered at the local food shelf.
She is survived by her two sons—Richard of Savannah, Georgia; Keith (Rebecca) of Jacobson, MN; and one sister--Ella Scott of Akeley; seven grandchildren—Richard Jr.; Ariel; Forrest; Evalina; Duel; Parker and Beretta; five great grand children; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband—Karl and a daughter—Debra who both passed away in 1959; her 3 brothers—Glen; Ernest; Lenard and a sister—Betty Thorton.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Akeley, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening June 30, 2015 from 5 until 7 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Nevis, MN. Visitation will also be held for 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Pastor Harvey Kietzman will officiate. Interment will be held at the Akeley City Cemetery in Akeley, MN.
