Johann Georg Lahner, who was born Franke, had become the respected man and was awarded the Wiener in 1842 civil rights awarded. Shortly after handing over the operation to his son Franz Lahner, died in 1845. The cause of death was pericardial dropsy on the death certificate. Lahners final resting place in the Vienna Central Cemetery was leveled in 1975.

JOHANN GEORG LAHNER was born in Gasseldorf on Aug. 13th, 1772. He apprenticed the butcher trade in Frankfurt[/Main] and founded a butcher's shop in Vienna in 1804. In 1805, he produced for the first time the now world-famous Wiener (a.k.a. Frank) according to this own recipe.
