Leona Ann Runge, 97, Sherwood, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Good Shepherd Home in Seymour.

She was born July 21, 1911, to the late Nicholas and Mary (Loehr) Heus in Malone, Wis.
Leona was a graduate of St. Mary Springs School in Fond du Lac.
On Jan. 23, 1932, she married Wilmer "Bud" Runge at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac.
She farmed in the Sherwood area until the end of World War II and then Leona did bookkeeping for her husband who operated Sherwood Auto Parts. Leona moved to the Pulaski area in the summer of 1985.

She was an avid Brewer fan. Leona enjoyed bowling, raising test roses for Jackson Perkins, making quilts, knitting afghans, playing cards, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling, making numerous car trips to the West Coast in the '30s, '40s and '50s.

Leona was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood until moving to Pulaski, where she became a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish and the St. Anne Society.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janet (Cliff) Powers, Pulaski; a son and daughter-in-law, Denis (Carol) Runge, Sherwood; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Runge, Denise Runge, Julie Derks, Jeanine (Karl) Zornow, Glenn (Kelly) Powers, Sara Gores, Scott (Anne) Powers, and Noel (Tina) Runge; 14 great- grandchildren, Jonathon Runge, Benjamin Runge, Jared Derks, Jordon Derks, Lydia Runge, Jack Runge, Morgan Powers, Mitchell Powers, Vince Zornow, Anthony Zornow, Frank Zornow, Edward Zornow, Evan Powers, and Ali Powers; and two nieces, Dee Christensen and Carole Cowan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Eleanor Brill; and a grandson-in-law, Keith Gores.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, N369 Military Rd., Sherwood, with Fr. Philip Dinh-Van Thiep officiating. Friends may call at Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund in Leona's name is being established. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 766-2099.
