Agnes was one of several children born to Philomena and Martin Joachim, both immigrants. It was a family story that her parents were born Jewish, but fled to America and disguised it by joining the Catholic church.

She married Richard Holland, and they had two sons, only Cleon R. Holland survived childhood. Cleon was my Aunt Bernice's husband.

Agnes worked hard all her life, and she and her husband saved diligently to send Cleon to medical school, successfully.

Richard died of a heart attack in 1938, and Agnes was despondent. She took her own life, jumping off the dam at Silver Lake, on the Zumbro River in Rochester.
