A terrible accident on Sunday morning claimed the life of two year old Kasely Lynn Anderson Sunday morning in Lawrence. The following information is taken from the Monday edition of the Hastings Tribune:

"A two-year old girl died Sunday after drowning in a family-owned swimming pool in Lawrence, Nuckolls County Sheriff, Brad Baker, reported.

According to the sheriff's account, he and the Lawrence rescue squad were dispatched to a residence in town at 10:21 a.m. after the girl's mother and grandmother found her in the large above-ground pool in the yard.

A preliminary investigation shows the girl may have left the house and been in the yard for a time. She reached the water by climbing the ladder that goes over the wall to the pool, which had been left in place. The girl apparently had been sitting on the ladder and playing in the water before she fell in, Baker said.

The girl's mother and grandmother searched for her after noticing the girl wasn't in the house, the sheriff said. After they found her, the grandmother attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the Lawrence ambulance and first responder arrived.

The Lawrence emergency medical technicians headed for Hastings with the girl and were met enroute by Hastings Fire and Rescue paramedics, who then took her on to Mary Lanning.

The Nuckolls County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services are investigating the matter."

Information is scarce at this time, Kasely Lynn Anderson was born February 11, 2013. Her mother is Wendy Anderson. The family lives near Highway 4 in Lawrence.

Funeral services for Kasely will be Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Methodist Church in Blue Hill. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery west of Lawrence.
