LIFE'S TRANSCIENT DREAM ENDS
Mrs. Lena Melges Passes Through Death's Portals

Mrs. Lena M. Melges, widow of Fredeick Melges died on Thursday of last week as the result of an attack of asthma which left her with a weak and failing heart.

The disease had been a constant menace to her for a number of years and at the time of the death of her husband was so serious that she was confined to her bed, rallying somewhat so she was able to be about the house and apparently recovering when she again failed and for the past month or more has been in a very serious condition terminating in her death on Thursday.

Sunday she was buried in the City cemetery, Rev. Dahlmann officiating. Her 7 children were present at the funeral. They are F. W. and G. A. of Chicago, and J. H. and A. A. of Redwood Falls and Otto of Springfield and Mrs. Fred Schmidt of Chicago and Miss Emma of this city. A large concourse of friends formed the procession which accompanied the remains to their final resting place.

Deceased was born in Lippe Dettmold, Germany and was married to Mr. Melges in 1865, removing almost immediately to this country and to this city where they have continuously resided and have had a confidential place in the esteem of the people of the city. Neither she nor her husband were what might be considered old at the time of their death and the children left to mourn their loss have the sympathy of the entire community.
